In the evaluation of tear film stability based on corneal topography, a pretreatment algorithm for tear film video was proposed for eye movement, eyelash reflection and background interference. First, Sobel operator was used to detect the blur image. Next, the target image with highlighted ring pattern was obtained by the morphological open operation performed on the grayscale image. Then the ring pattern frequency of the target image was extracted through the Hough circle detection and fast Fourier transform, and a band-pass filter was applied to the target image according to the ring pattern frequency. Finally, binarization and morphological closed operation were used for the localization of the ring pattern. Ten tear film videos were randomly selected from the database and processed frame by frame through the above algorithm. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm was effective in removing the invalid images in the video sequence and positioning the ring pattern, which laid a foundation for the subsequent evaluation of tear film stability.
Objective To study the effect of nontypeable Hemophilus influenzae(NTHi) strain ATCC49247 on proinflammatory cytokines expression of human A549 lung epithelial cell line. Methods Confluent A549 cells were co-incubated with NTHi, NTHi+Erythromycin(10 mg/L), NTHi+Gentamicin(100 mg/L), and NTHi+Dexamethasone(100 μmol/L),and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) inhibitor primed cells were co-incubated with NTHi for 24 h. Then levels of interleukin-8(IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in the supernatant was assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) in cells was detected by immunohistochemistry staining. Results A549 cells were transformed and died after co-intubated with NTHi for 24 h. NTHi induced A549 cells to release significantly greater amounts of IL-8, which was inhibited by NF-κB inhibitor pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate(PDTC). Incubating of A549 cells with NTHi significantly induced release of IL-8 and the expression of ICAM-1, which was blocked by erythromycin and dexamethasone and not by gentamicin. TNF-α was not detected in all circumstances. Conclusions NTHi can increase significantly the release and expression of proinflammatory cytokines through NF-κB pathway. Antibacterial drug erythromycin also has anti-inflammatory effect.
Objective To enhance the understanding of pulmonary hemangiopericytoma. Methods With a case report and reviewing related literatures, the etiology, clinical manifestations, radiological features, pathological features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of pulmonary hemangiopericytoma were discussed. Results The etiology of this rare disease remains unknown. Clinical symptoms are rare and non-specific.Radiological features show a round, homogeneous, soft-tissue mass without calcification. Pathologic feature reveals a large number of capillary lumen, and some tumors can be dressed with pseudo capsule or show infiltration growth to the surrounding tissue. The diagnosis of pulmonary hemangiopericytoma is mainly based on the imaging findings, and pathological examination is needed for final diagnosis. The best choice of treatment is surgery, combined with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Conclusions Pulmonary hemangiopericytoma is rare and often misdiagnosed as other pulmonary diseases. More attention should be paid to improve its therapeutic effect and prognosis.
Based on force sensing resistor(FSR) sensor, we designed insoles for pressure measurement, which were stable and reliable with a simple structure, and easy to wear and to do outdoor experiments with. So the insoles could be used for gait detection system. The hardware includes plantar pressure sensor array, signal conditioning unit and main circuit unit. The software has the function of data acquisition, signal processing, feature extraction and classification function. We collected 27 groups of gait data of a healthy person based on this system to analyze the data and study pressure distribution under various gait features, i.e. walking on the flat ground, uphill, downhill, up the stairs, and down the stairs. These five gait patterns for pattern recognition and classification by K-nearest neighbors (KNN) recognition algorithm reached up to 90% accuracy. This preliminarily verified the usefulness of the system.
