  • Clinical Effect of Early Enteral Nutrition in Severe Acute Pancreatitis by Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy/Jejunostomy

Objective To explore the clinical value of early enteral nutrition in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) by percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy/jejunostomy (PEG/J).Methods Treatment condition of nighty patients with SAP were retrospectively analysed. The 90 patients were collected peripheral venous blood respectively on 1, 12, and 18 d after admission to hospital.Forty-five of them were in PEG/J group, the others were in control group. Serum IL-6,TNF-α and endotoxin were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),CD4 /CD8 was determinated by indirect immunofluorescence staining method (FITC-labeled).Results On 12 d and 18 d,the levels of serum IL-6, TNF-α, and endotoxin in PEG/J group were lower than those in control group (P<0.01).The CD4 /CD8 was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.01).In control group, 2 cases complicated upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage,4 cases complicated pancreatic pseudocysts, and 2 cases complicated double infection, the temperature became normal after about 13.5 d.In PEG/J group, there were not upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage and double infection, but 2 cases also complicated pancreatic pseudocysts, the temperature became normal after about 10.5 d.Conclusion The clinical effectiveness of early enteral nutrition in SAP by PEG/J is satisfactory.

  • Application of Free-form Deformation Algorithm in Fast Three-dimensioanl Bone Reconstruction

This paper presents a unit free-form deformation (FFD) method applied to rapid three-dimensioanl (3D) bone reconstruction, which was based on traditional FFD. With the femur as an example, we reconstructed a 3D model of femur from two X-ray images and a standardized model by taking advantage of unit FFD algorithm. The X-ray images and its parameters were taken by C-arm device. Those parameters and X-ray contour are contributed to 3D reconstruction. The out contours of X-ray image and standard model were connected by point matching algorithm. The unit-FFD lattice was built to reconstruct standard model and finally made the contour of X-ray image and standard model exactly the same. Experiments on shape accuracy, robustness and time consuming, carried out by 35 specimen from cadaver, showed that mean error of shape (0.52 mm) and mean construction time (112 s) were lower than those using traditional method (0.7-2.6 mm, 8-20 min). The method proposed in this paper shows a good prospect in clinical application and related research.

  • A Denoising Method for Low-dose Small-animal Computed Tomography Image Based on Globe Dictionary Learning

Considering the survival rate of small animals and the continuity of the experiments, high-dose X-ray shooting process is not suitable for the small animals in computed tomography (CT) experiments. But the low-dose process results with images might be polluted by noises which are not conducive for the experiments. In order to solve this problem, we in this paper introduce a global dictionary learning based denoising method to apply the promotion of the low dose CT image. We at first adopted the K-means singular value decomposition (K-SVD) algorithm to train a global dictionary based on the high dose CT image. Then, the noise image could be decomposed into sparse component which was free from noise through the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm. Finally, the noise-free image could be achieved by reconstructing the image only with its sparse components. The experiments results showed that the method we proposed here could decrease the noise efficiently and remain the details, and it would help promote the low dose image quality and increase the survival rate of the small animals.

  • The rate of falls in Chinese elderly: a meta-analysis

ObjectiveTo systematically review studies investigating the rate of falls among Chinese elderly. MethodsThe CNKI, VIP, CBM, WanFang Data, EMbase, The Cochrane Library and PubMed databases were electronically searched to identify cross-sectional studies on the rate of falls in Chinese elderly published from January 1st, 2000 to December 31st, 2021. Two reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias of the included studies. Meta-analysis was then performed using Stata 16.0 software. Results A total of 54 cross-sectional studies, involving 111 098 cases were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that the rate of falls among Chinese elderly was 19.3% (95%CI 16.9% to 21.6%). Subgroup analyses showed that the fall rates were 16.1% and 21.9% for males and females, respectively. The rates for 60-69, 70-79, and >80 years age groups were 16.3%, 21.7%, and 27.3%, respectively. The rates for the North, South, East, Southwest, and Central parts of China were 16.6%, 17.9%, 18.7%, 22.0%, and 25.8%, respectively. For the urban and rural elderly, the rates were 16.4% and 23.1%, respectively. The rates for those with or without spouses were 24.2% and 26.8%, respectively, while for the solitary and non-solitary elderly were 21.1% and 17.8%, respectively. The rates for elderly with or without exercise habits were 22.1% and 27.1%, respectively. ConclusionThe rate of falls is high among Chinese elderly, especially among females, older individuals, those in Southwest China, rural individuals, those without spouse, solitary individuals and those without exercise habits.
