ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of early rehabilitation on function of patients undergoing complex lower limb amputation caused by injuring in "4·20" Lushan earthquake. MethodsFrom April 20th to June 30th, 2013, we carried out comprehensive rehabilitation intervention for two patients who had undergone complex lower limb amputation, including physical treatment, exercise treatment, psychological treatment, wound dressing, rehabilitation program, and multiple rehabilitation nursing care. ResultsThrough early comprehensive rehabilitation intervention, patients' pain was relieved, and their muscle strength, activities of daily living (ADL), and balance function had been improved greatly, achieving the goal of installing artificial limb. ConclusionEarly rehabilitation intervention treatment is effective in relieving pain in patients undergoing lower extremities amputation, and improving their muscle strength, ability of ADL and balance function, which can make the patients return to society much better and faster.
Biomechanics-related degenerative lumbar spondylosis refers to the diseases of lumbar spine joints, muscles, fascia, and ligaments that related to maintaining lumbar spine mechanical balance and stability, which are mainly manifesting as lumbar pain and lumbocrural pain. The occurrence of biomechanics-related degenerative lumbar spondylosis is related to continuous static load and dynamic load, extra load, and aging. This article describes the etiology of biomechanics-related degenerative lumbar spondylosis, summarizes the functional compensation and structural compensation of losing balance by analyzing the characteristics of human biomechanical balance and the biomechanics of lumbar spondylolisthesis, and interprets the clinical classification of lumbar spondylosis, so as to provide a better reference for the diagnosis and treatment of lumbar spine diseases.
Objective To analyze the injury and dysfunction as well as the rehabilitation status and demand of the 188 Lushan earthquake victims admitted in the hospitals in and around Ya’an city and the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, so as to provide guidance for the rehabilitation work in the following step. Methods By means of the onsite investigation, 122 victims admitted in 7 hospitals and 2 health centers in and around Ya’an city within 1-9 days after Lushan earthquake, and the other 66 victims treated in the West China Hospital of Sichuan University were analyzed. Results The injury categorization of 122 victims in and around Ya’an city was as follows: upper limb fracture (12.30%), lower limb fracture (42.62%), spine fracture (16.39%) (25.00% treated by surgery and 75.00% treated by non-surgery treatment), pelvis fracture (1.64%), rib fracture (4.10%), traumatic brain injury (10.66%), soft tissue contusion (8.20%), and others (4.09%). At the corresponding period, the injury categorization of 66 victims treated in the department of rehabilitation medicine of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University was as follows: fracture (77.27%), traumatic brain injury (3.03%), spinal cord injury (4.55%), and others, including soft tissue injury (15.15%). At the ninth day after earthquake, among the 122 victims in and around Ya’an city, 8 victims (6.56%) were recovered with self-care ability of daily living, and the other 144 (93.44%) still needed the strengthened rehabilitation treatment. At the corresponding period, among the 66 victims in the West China Hospital, one victim (1.52%) was recovered with self-care ability of daily living, and the other 65 (98.48%) still needed the strengthened rehabilitation treatment. Conclusion Early rehabilitation treatment such as active exercise, elevating injured limbs, physical therapy, turning over at regular time, and psychological intervention can help the earthquake victims to return to home and society early.
To observe the effect of pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) of different treatment time on bone mineral density of femur in ovariectomized rats, so as to find out the treatment time for the best therapeutic efficacy. Methods Fifty female SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: sham-ovariectomized (SHAM) group (no PEMFs treatment), ovariectomy (OVX) control group (no PEMFs treatment), OVX I, II and III groups (PEMFs treatment at 8 Hz frequency with 3. 8 ×10-10A/m intensity 20, 40, and 60 minutes daily for 30 days, respectively). All rats were given bilateral ovariectomy except those in the SHAM control group. Bone mineral density (BMD) of femur was assessed at 30 days after PEMFs treatment. Results In OVX control group, hypotrichosis, hypoactivity and l istlessness were observed after operation; and in SHAM group, OVX I group, OVX II group and OVX III group, pilus, psyche and activity were normal. The BMD values were (0.226 ± 0.011), (0.210 ± 0.011), (0.231 ± 0.013), (0.231 ± 0.017) and (0.229 ± 0.013) g/cm2 in SHAM group, OVX control group, OVX I group, OVX II group and OVX III group respectively, showing significant differences between OVX control group and other groups (P lt; 0.05), but showing no significant differences between other 4 groups (P gt; 0.05). Conclusion P EMFs of the three different treatment times can maintain the BMD in ovariectomized rats. It shows that PEMFs have the same effect of maintaining BMD with increasing of treatment time at the range of 20-60 minutes in ovariectomized rats.
ObjectiveTo analyze the state of rehabilitation after Lushan earthquake for improving the rehabilitation and personnel training system. MethodsFrom April 21st to May 5th, 2013, we collected data related to earthquake victims and the staff structure from West China Hospital, Leshan Downtown Hospital, Emeishan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Ya'an People's Hospital through interview and field investigation. ResultsTwo weeks after the earthquake, 25 220 victims received treatments in Sichuan Province, 6 545 surgeries were conducted, and 947 victims received postoperative early rehabilitation. A total of 392 victims received treatments in West China Hospital, Sichuan University, including 321 in-patients. In Leshan Downtown Hospital, Emeishan Hospital of TCM and Ya'an People's Hospital, the proportion of rehabilitation doctors reached 11.5% among all the doctors, the rehabilitation nurses reached to 8.6% among all nurses, and the rehabilitation therapists with certification reached to 4/5. ConclusionThe construction of the rehabilitation system and discipline, the cultivation of professional personnel, and popularization of rehabilitation concept are essential for development of rehabilitation in Sichuan province.
