  • RESEARCH PROGRESS OF microRNA IN INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DEGENERATION

ObjectiveTo comprehensively analyze the relationship between microRNAs and intervertebral disc degeneration at home and abroad. MethodsThe literature about the relationship between microRNAs and intervertebral disc degeneration was reviewed and analyzed. ResultsMicroRNA can lead to intervertebral disc degeneration by regulating the gene expression, thus influencing the cell's apoptosis and proliferation, increasing of the production of inflammatory mediator and protease, which play important roles in intervertebral disc degeneration. ConclusionMicroRNA is a research focus in the field of intervertebral disc degeneration. Further research of the relationship between microRNAs and intervertebral disc degeneration will help to identify the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration and furnish the new ideal for the diagnosis and treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration.

  • Effect of Early Enteral Nutrition in Severe Thoracic Trauma Patients Requiring Mechanical Ventilation: A Randomized Controlled Trial

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effects of early enteral nutrition in severe thoracic trauma patients requiring mechanical ventilation. MethodsWe randomly allocated 60 patients with thoracic trauma requiring mechanical ventilation into two groups by drawing lots including an early enteral nutrition (EEN) group and a parenteral nutrition (PN) group in our hospital between January 2013 and September 2014 year. There were 30 patients in each group. We compared the recovery results of the patients between the two groups. ResultsAfter the treatment of 7 and 14 days, indicators in the EEN group were better than before significantly and better than those in the PN group; diarrhea rate average days of ICU and the average days of hospital decreased significantly with statistical differences (P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in ventilator-associated pneumonia or the incidence of stress ulcer between the two groups (P>0.05). ConclusionEarly enteral nutrition in severe chest trauma patients requiring mechanical ventilation may promote protein synthesis, improve the nutritional status of patients, correct negative nitrogen balance, reduce inflammation response, reduce the complications.

  • Day Surgery for Palmar Hyperhidrosis: A Case Control Study

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of the clinical pathway based on the medical data information integration system to guide the treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis (PHH). Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 106 PHH patients in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from March 2012 through June 2015. The patients were divided into two groups including a day surgery group (52 patients) and a traditional group (54 patients). The patients in the day surgery group underwent day surgery guided by clinical pathway of PHH based on medical data information integration system. The patients in the traditional group stayed in hospital for 2-3 days. The pre-surgical situation, post-surgical effect of patients and cost of hospitalization were compared between the two groups. Results Only one patient of PPH suffered from insufficient relief of symptoms. The other patients’ symptom of PPH disappeared. No serious complication occurred. The postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score of patients was lower than 2 points. The hospitalization expense of the day surgery group was significantly lower than that of the traditional operation group. The average follow-up time was 2.5 months (0.5 to 4 months). The symptoms of the whole group had no recurrence. All of the patients were not found with compensatory hyperhidrosis. Conclusion Day-surgery clinical pathway of PHH based on medical data information integration system is safe and feasible. Day-surgery clinical pathway of PPH can accelerate the recovery of patients and save the cost of hospitalization.
