  • Relationships Between Health-Related Quality of Life and Social Support in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome

Objective To study the relationships among health-related quality of life( HRQL) ,social support, excessive daytime sleepiness ( EDS) and PSG parameters in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome ( OSAHS) . Methods Eighty-five patients were recruited who were diagnosed as OSAHS by overnight polysomnography from August 2007 through November 2007 in West China Hospital. The Calgary sleep apnea quality of life index ( SAQLI) was used for HRQL, social support rating scale ( SSRS) was used for social support, and Epworth sleepiness scale( ESS) was used for EDS. The Pearson linear correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the correlation among SAQLI, SSRS, ESS, and PSG. Results The SAQLI was correlated with SSRS score ( r =0. 402, P lt;0. 01) ;ESS score ( r = - 0. 505, P lt;0. 01) ; apnea-hypopnea index ( AHI) ( r = - 0. 269, P lt; 0. 05) and lowest artery oxygen saturation ( LSaO2) ( r = 0. 226, P lt; 0. 05) . Stepwise multiple regression analysis determined two variables, the SSRS and ESS score, as independent factors for predicting the total score of SAQLI which accounted for 37. 3% of the total variance in the total score on SAQLI ( R2 = 0. 373, P lt; 0.001) .Conclusions The HRQL of patients with OSAHS was correlated with the SSRS score, ESS score and PSG parameters. The former two were the more important factors to affect the HRQL of patients with OSAHS.

  • Effects of X-Ray Dose on Expressions of MicroRNA-221 and PTEN in Human Colorectal Carcinoma Cells

Objective To investigate the effects of X-ray dose on the expressions of microRNA-221 (miR-221) and phosphatase and a tensin homolog deleted from chromosome10 (PTEN) in human colorectal carcinoma (CRC) cells. Methods Human CRC-derived cell line, Caco2, was cultured conventionally. The cells were divided into five groups and exposed to different doses of X-ray (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 Gy) respectively. The total RNA and protein of the Caco2 cells were extracted after irradiation, and the miR-221 and PTEN mRNA expressions were detected by real-time RT-PCR.Moreover, the protein alteration of PTEN in Caco2 cells was detected by Western-blot analysis. Results The radiation dose of X-ray significantly affected the expressions of miR-221 and PTEN protein in human Caco2 cells in a dose-depen-dent manner. Moreover, the miR-221 expression level was up-regulated gradually with the increase of irradiation dose, on the contrary, the PTEN protein expression level was down-regulated gradually (P<0.01). Conclusion The radiation dose can affect the miR-221 and PTEN protein expression pattern in CRC cells.

  • Comparison Study on the Different Drainage of Palliative Operative Style for Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma and Life Quality of PostOperation

ObjectiveTo discuss the effect of palliative drainage operation on the life quality of hilar cholangiocarcinoma. MethodsCholangiocarcinoma data of our hospital in recent 21 years were analysed retrospectively. They were divided into four groups: RouxenY choledochojejunostomy group, bridge internal drainage group, PTCD (or ERBD) internal drainage group, and operative external drainage group. The operative mortality, incidence of postoperative cholangitis and survival period were compared among groups.ResultsThe total perioperative mortality of 193 cases of palliative operation was 9.3%, there was no difference among groups (P>0.05). The rate of postoperative cholangitis in the bridge internal drainage group (10.0%) was lower than that of RouxenY choledochojejunostomy group (19.4%),P<0.05, the rate of cholangitis in PTCD (or ERBD) internal drainage group (37.5%) and operative external drainage group (38.1%) were significantly higher than that of RouxenY choledochojejunostomy group (P<0.01). There was no significant difference between RouxenY choledochojejunostomy group 〔(9.2±1.8) months〕 and PTCD (or ERBD) internal drainage group 〔(8.8±1.9) months〕 in survival period (P>0.05),but the survival period of the above groups were significantly higher than that of bridge internal drainage group 〔(6.5±1.6) months〕,P<0.05, and operative (or PTCD) external drainage group 〔(4.3±2.0) months〕,P<0.01.ConclusionThe life quality of RouxenY choledochojejunostomy group is better than that of bridge internal drainage group and PTCD (or ERBD) internal drainage group, the life quality of external drainage is worse than that of the other groups.

  • Screening and analyzing risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome in patients with snoring

ObjectiveTo establish a screening model for obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) through data analysis, and explore the risk factors of OSAHS. MethodsA total of 558 patients who underwent polysomnography in the Sleep Monitoring Room of Zigong Fourth People’s Hospital were recruited in the study. Among them there were 163 cases in a snore group and 395 cases in an OSAHS group. Risk factors of OSAHS were screened by both univariate analysis and multivariate analysis, then the model was established by means of binary logistic regression analysis. Finally, the screening model was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of the combined predictive factor. ResultsThe screening model of OSAHS was established as: X=–10.286+0.280×body mass index+1.057×snoring degree+1.124×sex+0.085×Epworth score+0.036×age. In this equation, sex value was 1 for men and 0 for women. If the value of X is higher than 1.123, it is likely that OSAHS would occur, and the probability (P)=ex/(1+ex). The sensitivity of the screening model was 77.70%, the specificity was 85.89%, the area under the ROC curve was 0.890, and the 95% confidence interval ranged from 0.862 to 0.918. ConclusionThis study demonstrates that a screening model based on the snoring degree, Epworth score, and body measurement data is a valuable tool to predict and screen OSAHS in patients with snoring, and the screening model could be useful in clinical diagnosis of OSAHS.

  • Clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of frozen shoulder in traditional Chinese medicine: a guideline interpretation

China Association of Chinese Medicine officially issued the clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of frozen shoulder in traditional Chinese medicine (T/CACM 1416-2022) on November 14th, 2022. The guideline covers clinical diagnosis, treatment, prevention and care of frozen shoulder. This paper introduces the background of this guideline and interprets its contents of clinical diagnosis, treatment and prevention. It helps the applicable population deepen their understanding and standardization of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of frozen shoulder, and provides references for the development of relevant guidelines in traditional Chinese medicine orthopedics in the future.

  • Practical significance, content, methods and prospects of the study of geriatric comorbidity

Comorbidity is a prominent public health problem in the elderly population. To carry out research on the comorbidity of the elderly is not only an important breakthrough to realize the national strategy of actively responding to the aging population, but also a vivid practice of earnestly implementing the "Healthy China" and other action programs. Based on the major public health issues of elderly comorbidity, this paper lists the main contents and methods of elderly comorbidity research from the perspective of secondary research and empirical research, and holds that this field contains both the profound thought of "holistic concept" and the advanced idea of "integrative medicine". At the same time, under the background of the new era, the gradual deepening of the research in this field may give birth to a brand-new discipline - geriatric comorbidity.
