  • Advances in Clinical Application of Fiberoptic Ductoscopy

ObjectiveTo introduce the current status of clinical application, value and perspective of fiberoptic ductoscopy.MethodsThe related literatures on advances in clinical application of fiberoptic ductoscopy were reviewed.ResultsFiberoptic ductoscopy is now widely used in breast diseases, especially complicated with nipple discharge, and it has a higher accuracy rate than routine examinations. With ductoscopy, ductal lavage, location, biopsy and treatment can be carried out.ConclusionFiberoptic ductoscopy has a greater value in diagnosis and treatment, we believe it will be better applied and further developed.

  • Breast Cancer Stem Cells and Genotyping

Objective To summarize the advancement of breast cancer stem cells and genotyping and analyze the correlation between the two. Methods Relevant literatures about breast cancer stem cells and genotyping, which were published recently were collected and reviewed. Results Cancer stem cell origin theory was supported by researches of correlation between breast cancer stem cells and genotyping, which also explained the complexity of intrinsic subtypes and heterogeneity of breast cancer. Conclusions A new way can be detected to study the formation mechanism and biological characteristics of breast cancer at the cellular and molecular level by researches of correlation between breast cancer stem cells and genotyping, which are expected to provide new strategies and tools for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

  • Mutual Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche

【Abstract】Objective To give a summary of the current researches on hematopoietic stem cell niche. Methods Through extensive reviewing the related domestic and abroad literatures, the present summary reviews the components of hematopoietic stem cell niche, related cell factors and related cell signaling pathway participating in regulation of hematopoietic stem cell. Results The activities of hematopoietic stem cells are regulated by the niche (microenvironment), which is composed of hematopoietic stem cell and its surrounding cells. The regulation cannot be completed through one signaling pathway. Also, the self-renewal and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cell cannot be completed only through osteoblastic cells. Conclusion The niche regulates hematopoietic stem cells by different ways. With study in-depth, we will comprehensively understand the nature of stem cells and the study will provide a broader space to stem cell-based therapy.

  • Effects of As2O3 on Expression of NF-κB p65, Survivin and Caspase-3 in Human Breast Cancer

【Abstract】ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of As2O3 on expression of NF-κB p65, survivin and caspase-3 in human breast infiltrating duct carcinoma xenograft model on nude mice. Methods A human breast infiltrating duct carcinoma model on nude mice was established and the nude mice were divided randomly into three groups: control group, DDP group and As2O3 group (1.5 and 3.0 mg/kg concentrations). The expression of survivin mRNA was detected with the method of in situ hybridization and the expressions of NF-κB p65, survivin and caspase-3 protein were measured with immunohistochemistry. ResultsThe positive rates of NF-κB p65 and survivin expression were higher in the control group than those in the DDP group and the As2O3 groups, but that of caspase-3 was on the opposite way (P<0.01). The positive rates of NF-κB p65 and survivin in As2O3 group were negatively related with the concentrations of As2O3 (P<0.01), but that of caspase-3 was on the opposite way (P<0.01). The expressions of NF-κB p65 and survivin protein were positively correlated with that of survivin mRNA, but any of them was negatively correlated with the expression of caspase-3 protein. ConclusionAs2O3 inhibites survivin probably by inhibiting the activity of NFκB p65 and subsequently activates caspase-3, which induces apoptosis of human breast infiltrating duct carcinoma cells and is in a dose-dependent manner.

  • Multiple neuroendocrine carcinoma: a case report

ObjectiveTo study the diagnosis and treatment of multiple neuroendocrine carcinoma.MethodClinical data of a case of multiple neuroendocrine carcinoma was retrospective analyzed.ResultsAfter discussion by a multidisciplinary team (MDT), the patient was diagnosed as multiple neuroendocrine carcinoma with late clinical stage and inoperable. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy were given, which showed significant effects, and the patient died after 1 year of follow-up.ConclusionIn the clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with multiple neuroendocrine carcinoma, MDT cooperative treatment model should be adopted to provide a better treatment program.
