  • Nursing Intervention in Head CT Perfusion Imaging for Cerebral Ischemia Patients

    ObjectiveTo research on the effect of nursing intervention on CT scanning success rate and image quality in head CT perfusion imaging for cerebral ischemia patients. MethodBetween June 2013 and July 2014, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 203 patients who underwent CT perfusion imaging for cerebral ischemia. All the patients received nursing intervention including the following aspects:body position, psychology, sedation, leakage of contrast medium, allergic reaction, etc. ResultsA total of 199 patients successfully underwent the examination, among whom there were 190 (93.6%) satisfactory and 9 (4.5%) qualified results. The other four patients (1.9%) stopped examination because of motion artifacts. So the success rate came to 98.1%, and the failure rate was 1.9%. ConclusionsWith nursing intervention before, during and after CT scanning, patients with acute cerebral ischemia can accept higher success rate in examining and satisfactory image quality. At the same time, the nursing service was also improved.

  • Application of Project Management in West China Hospital of Sichuan University

    The advanced management is the foundation of the long-term development of hospital. How to break the barriers between institutions, explore and set up formal management system and operating mechanism is a headache faced by many public hospitals. By bringing in Project Management (PM) theory to establish up the management reform will be a smart way. This study reported the examples of the PMs of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, summarized the management experiences, revealed the great value of PM, and provided references for the managers of hospitals.

  • Practice and Reflection of Supervising Transparent Administration of Clinical Department Affairs

    ObjectiveTo carry out the work of overseeing transparent administration of clinical department affairs, have clear knowledge on the progress of making clinical department affairs public, and find out problems the staff focus most. MethodQuestionnaire survey was used, combined with the participation of various meetings, interviews with staff, access to documents and other ways between November and December 2013. ResultsIt showed that the rate of transparent administration of clinical department affairs was (78.39±18.55)%. Among all the affairs, policy ones had the highest scores (over 85%), while the rates of research and academic tenure, financial transactions and remuneration allocation, personnel arrangements and training were the lowest (below 75%), and faculty focused on these affairs. ConclusionsFive methods can improve the rate of transparent administration of clinical department affairs effectively:enough attention from clinical departments, concerning what employees focus on, utilizing methods rationally, strong supervision and making full use of monitoring.

  • Practice and Thinking about Regional Medical Collaborative Service in Western Region of China

    This article takes the regional cooperative medical service practice provided by the West China Hospital of Sichuan University as example, analyzes several problems with regional medical service practice in western region based on the introduction of the general situation and system of regional cooperative medical service provided by the West China Hospital. The problems are:lack of motivation to promote regional collaborative medical care, serious lag of policies, and lack of stratified configuration of tests/exams quality standards and construction standards of medical information system platform. This article puts forward the key point to promote western regional medical collaboration:strengthening government dominance, and establishing suitable medical insurance system and regional laboratory examination centre.

  • Health Professionals Training Project in West China: An Assessment of Training Outcomes in West China Hospital of Sichuan University

    ObjectiveTo evaluate the outcomes of the Health Professionals Training Project in West China in the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, launched by the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China, so as to provide advices and experience for primary health institute physician training work. MethodsA questionnaire investigation was conducted among 130 trainees who took part in the second and third training programs from September 2011 to March 2013. Based on the feedback, this study analyzed their motivation of participation, performance of acquired skills in local region and practicability of such skills, and compared their mastery of such skills before and after training. ResultsWith high-degree satisfaction, the trainees learnt skills well and could perform and promote applicable techniques in local regions. ConclusionPolicies encouraging the Health Professionals Training Project should be made in primary-level hospitals; on the other hand, the traning health institutes should screen applicable techniques, strengthen management and services, and promote health professionals training from comprehensive perspective in all aspects.

  • Creative Construction of Social Evaluation System by West China Hospital of Sichuan University

    Social Evaluation is an important reference to guide the reform and development of a public hospital. In view of the patient, hospital stakeholders and the public, West China Hospital of Sichuan University creatively constructed a social evaluation system, including patient satisfaction degree, expert appraisal and online public comment, in order to maintain a good medical environment. After several years of construction and application, the system has been quite effective in promote the development of the hospital. In the assessment of patients' satisfaction degree toward the hospital, we made a great improvement.
