  • Investigation with Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and the Influencing Factors on Chongqing Pupils

Objective To study the personality characteristics of Chongqing pupils and the influencing factors. Methods A cross-sectional survey with Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ, Children’s Version) and Social Support Rating Scales was carried out to investigate 1 110 pupils in Grade 4 to 6 from 7 schools in Chongqing who were selected by means of cluster sampling. Then the score of each EPQ factor was compared with the norm, and the major influencing factors were screened. Results a) The score of each EPQ factor was compared with the national norm. The scores of the introversion and extroversion, and psychoticism in both gender groups aged 9 to 12, the concealment tendency in the girl group aged 9 to 11, and the neuroticism in both gender groups aged above 11, the boy group aged 9 to 10, and the girl group aged above 12 were all lower than those of the norms (Plt;0.05), but the scores of the concealment tendency in the boy groups aged above 9 and above 11, and in the girl group aged above 12 were higher than those of the norms (Plt;0.05); b) The introversion and extroversion were influenced by the factors of residence, grade, family quarrel, praise and encouragement from parents, being praised by teachers in charge, subjective support and the degree of using support. The neuroticism was influenced by the factors of family quarrel, pressure of homework from parents, praise and encouragement from parents, beating and scolding by family, burden of study, and the degree of using support. The psychoticism was influenced by the factors of gender, residence, one-child family nurture, praise and encouragement from parents, beating and scolding by family, criticism by teachers in charge, burden of study, objective support, and the degree of using support. The concealment tendency was influenced by the factors of gender, grade, family quarrel, pressure of homework from parents, praise from teachers in charge, burden of study, subjective support, and the degree of using support. Conclusion The personality characteristics of pupils in Chongqing tend to be introversion and stability in general, which are influenced by various factors such as individual, family and school.

  • Immunogenicity and Safety of Measles-Mumps-Rubella-Varicella Vaccine: A Systematic Review

Objective To evaluate on immunogenicity and safety of measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccine. Methods The PubMed, BIOSIS Previews, CDSR, The Cochrane Library, CBM, CNKI and VIP were searched between Jan. 1990 and April 2010. Studies were included in the review if they were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about measles (M) – mumps (M) – rubella (R) and varicella (V) vaccine. Trial screening, data exaction and quality assessment of the included trials were conducted by the method recommended by Cochrane Collaboration. Statistical analyses were conducted by using RevMan 4.2.10 software. Results Five RCTs were included. Among those there were 2 trials of B degree and 3 trials of C degree. Meta-analyses showed that to different inoculation methods, (MMRV or MMR+V) the rate of pain was not significantly different with RR 0.94 and 95%CI 0.83 to 1.05 (P=0.28). The rate of redness was not significantly different with RR 1.08 and 95%CI 0.90 to 1.29 (P=0.40). The rate of hardening was not significantly different with RR 1.16 and 95%CI 0.95 to 1.43 (P=0.14). The rate of fever was significantly different with RR 1.20 and 95%CI 1.12 to 1.29 (Plt;0.000 01). The rate of skin rash was not significantly different with RR 1.18 and 95%CI 1.00 to 1.41 (P=0.05). The serum measles antibody positive rate was not significantly different with RR 1.00 and 95%CI 0.99 to 1.01 (P=0.68). The serum mumps antibody positive rate was not significantly different with RR 0.99 and 95%CI 0.50 to 1.01 (P=0.11). The serum rubella antibody positive rate was not significantly different with RR 1.00 and 95%CI 0.99 to 1.01 (P=0.68). The se-rum varicella antibody positive rate was not significantly different with RR 1.00 and 95%CI 0.99 to 1.01 (P=0.58). Conclusion Compared with MMR+V vaccine, the MMRV vaccine has the same immune effect. In respect of immune safety, in addition to higher rate of fever after vaccination, other local or systemic reaction is good. For the role of reducing vaccination times and good performance on immune effect and safety, the MMRV vaccine can be regarded as candidate vaccine for children. The fever caused by the new component should be strengthened in the following study. Limited to the quality and account for the current original documents, citing evidence of this systematic review would be cautious. Future studies would expand the sample size, fulfill the test design, increase indicators to improve the quality of research and demonstration intensity.

  • Research on Influencing Factors and Circumcision Acceptance Willingness of Adult Males in Chongqing

Objective To understand the adult male’s acceptance of circumcision and its influencing factors in Chongqing, so as to provide scientific evidences for developing male circumcision extension programs and health education materials. Methods The circumcision acceptance of adult males from 18 to 45 years old in Chongqing was investigated by using multistage stratified cluster sampling method. Results Among 1 502 subjects, 661 males persisted in their willingness to do circumcision, and the operation acceptance rate was 44.01%; the acceptance rate in the 18-30 age group was higher than that in the 31-45 age group; the higher the education level, the higher the acceptance of the circumcision; and workers and businessmen had greater willingness to accept than farmers. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the positive factors affecting acceptance rate were “being aware that the circumcision is suitable for phimosis and redundant prepuce” (OR=21.01, 95%CI 14.21 to 31.06), “being told by friends who had circumcision before” (OR=1.65, 95%CI 1.25 to 2.19), and “being realized on the risk of phimosis and redundant prepuce” (OR=1.43, 95%CI 1.01 to 2.02); while the negative factors were “being worried about the surgical complications” (OR=0.69, 95%CI 0.50 to 0.95) and “being afraid of the ridicule from people around” (OR=0.63, 95%CI 0.40 to 0.99). Conclusion The willingness rate of adult males to accept circumcision was low in Chongqing; the publicity and education should be strengthened, and the good social atmosphere should be built for increasing the willingness rate of accepting circumcision.

  • Network meta-analysis on clinical effects of acupuncture in treatment of primary dysmenorrhea

Objective To assess the effectiveness of acupunctures in treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by using network meta-analysis. Methods Databases including the PubMed, EMbase, The Cochrane Library (Issue 6, 2016), CBM, CNKI and WanFang Data were searched for relevant clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing acupunctures with ibuprofen or other kinds of acupuncture from inception to July 6th 2016. Two reviewers independently screened literature, extracted data and assessed the risk of bias of included studies. Then meta-analysis was performed by using Stata 13.0 and WinBugs 1.43 software. Results A total of 56 RCTs involving 4 600 PD patients were included. The results of network meta-analysis showed that: for the clinical effects: simple acupuncture, acupuncture plus moxa-moxibustion, acupuncture plus indirect-moxibustion, electroacupuncture, warm-acupuncture and electroacupuncture plus warm-acupuncture were superior to ibuprofen, acupuncture plus moxa-moxibustion, acupuncture plus indirect-moxibustion and warm-acupuncture were superior to simple acupuncture. For VAS score, there was no significant difference among all treatments. Simple acupuncture and ibuprofen were superior to acupuncture plus indirect-moxibustion in dysmenorrhea symptom scores. Conclusion The included 6 kinds of acupunctures are superior to ibuprofen and different acupunctures have different advantages in the treatment of PD. When selecting treatment regimen, it is better to consider the clinical situation and TCM syndrome differentiation.

  • Review of model-based meta-analysis: bibliometric analysis

ObjectiveThis study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the dataset obtained from a systematic review of Model-Based Meta-Analysis (MBMA) studies to uncover research trends in MBMA. MethodsWe conducted a systematic search across databases including Embase, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, WanFang Data, and Sinomed. Relevant literature pertaining to MBMA was screened and included. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed to assess author contributions, temporal trends, national distribution, and disease prevalence. ResultsA total of 129 articles were included in the analysis, most published in being China (n=48), the United States (n=47), and the United Kingdom (n=7). The time span covered by these articles ranged from 2005 to 2023. A total of 531 researchers contributed to the included studies, with first authors from 15 different countries. The compilation encompassed 402 keywords, with the three most frequently used being “Meta-analysis” (n=28), “Model-based meta-analysis” (n=27), and “Pharmacokinetics” (n=14). The study covered 16 distinct disease categories, with the top three neoplasms (n=16), neurological disorders (n=14), and endocrine and metabolic diseases (n=13). ConclusionBibliometric analysis showed that the number of MBMA studies has increased significantly over the past three years, using a variety of key diseases as carriers. However, this new type of quantitative research has not yet attracted sufficient attention, and the research power is still concentrated in China and the United States; Moreover, a core group of authors has not yet been formed, it is necessary for scholars from various countries to strengthen multidisciplinary cooperation and communication to promote the production and translation of high-quality evidence.
