  • Difference analysis of muscle fatigue during the exercises of core stability training

The present study was carried out with the surface electromyography signal of subjects during the time when subjects did the exercises of the 6 core stability trainings. We analyzed the different activity level of surface electromyography signal, and finally got various fatigue states of muscles in different exercises. Thirty subjects completed exercises of 6 core stability trainings, which were prone bridge, supine bridge, unilateral bridge (divided into two trainings,i.e. the left and right sides alternatively) and bird-dog (divided into two trainings,i.e. the left and right sides alternatively), respectively. Each exercise was held on for 1 minute and 2 minutes were given to relax between two exercises in this test. We measured both left and right sides of the body’s muscles, which included erector spina, external oblique, rectus abdominis, rectus femoris, biceps femoris, anterior tibial and gastrocnemius muscles. We adopted the frequency domain characteristic value of the surface electromyography signal,i.e. median frequency slope to analyze the muscle fatigue in this study. In the present paper, the results exhibit different fatigue degrees of the above muscles during the time when they did the core stability rehabilitation exercises. It could be concluded that supine bridge and unilateral bridge can cause more fatigue on erector spina muscle, prone bridge caused Gastrocnemius muscle much fatigue and there were statistical significant differences (P<0.05) between prone bridge and other five rehabilitation exercises in the degree of rectus abdominis muscle fatigue. There were no statistical significant differences (P>0.05) between all the left and right sides of the same-named muscles in the median frequency slope during all the exercises of the six core stability trainings,i.e. the degree which the various kinds of rehabilitation exercises effected the left and right side of the same-named muscle had no statistical significant difference (P>0.05). In this research, the conclusion presents quantized guidelines on the effects of core stability trainings on different muscles.

  • Clinical value and status of six-minute walk test in thoracic surgery

Six-minute walk test (6MWT) is one of the cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). It is not only used to assess the cardiac and pulmonary function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but also used to assess COPD patients’ health-related quality of life (HRQoL) or self-management in daily life. With the concept of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) put forward, assessing patients’ preoperative cardiac and pulmonary function, establishing preoperative and early postoperative exercises standards, as well as assessing cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation after surgery become much more important. CPET gets more attention from clinical surgeons. This study focuses on the clinical value and status of 6MWT in thoracic surgery.

  • Effects of rehabilitation exercise on exercise tolerance and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with non-acute coronary syndrome after interventional therapy: A randomized controlled trial

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of rehabilitation exercise on exercise tolerance and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with non-acute coronary syndrome (non-ACS) after interventional therapy.MethodsA total of 102 patients with coronary heart disease and non-ACS in our hospital from December 2018 to June 2019 were selected and randomly divided into a control group (n=51, 30 males and 21 females with an average age of 56.1±4.8 years) and a trial group (n=51, 34 males and 17 females with an average age of 55.1±4.9 years). The control group received routine treatment, while the trial group received regular supervised rehabilitation exercise on the basis of routine treatment. Patients were followed up for 6 months to compare the differences in cardiovascular risk factors (blood pressure, blood lipid, fasting blood glucose), 6-minute walking distance (6MWD), adverse lifestyle changes and treatment compliance between the two groups after treatment.ResultsThe difference of 6MWD between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). In the trial group, 6MWD increased after intervention compared with that before intervention, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Comparison of total cholesterol (TC), high density liptein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density liptein cholesterol (LDL-C) and fasting blood glucose in the trial group before and after intervention showed statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The differences in TC, HDL-C and LDL-C in the control group before and after intervention were statistically significant (P<0.05). It was statistically significant in dietary compliance rate, smoking cessation rate and alcohol cessation rate between the two groups (P<0.05); the differences in the dietary compliance and drug compliance of the trial group before and after intervention were statistically significant (P<0.05).ConclusionRegular supervised rehabilitation exercise can significantly improve the exercise tolerance and cardiovascular risk factors of non-ACS patients after coronary intervention treatment, so as to improve the quality of life and long-term prognosis of non-ACS patients, which is worthy of clinical application.

  • A study on the application of recumbent rehabilitation exercises combined with oscillatory positive expiratory pressure training in pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with moderate to severe inhalation injuries

Objective To explore the application effect of recumbent rehabilitation exercise combined with oscillatory positive expiratory pressure training in pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with moderate to severe inhalation injury. Methods Fifty-seven patients with moderate-to-severe inhalation injuries admitted to the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery of the People’s Hospital of North Jiangsu Province from January 2021 to March 2023 were selected by convenience sampling. The patients were randomly divided into Group A, Group B, and Group C. Group A received conventional treatment, Group B received the recumbent rehabilitation exercise on the basis of Group A, and Group C received the concussive expiratory pressure training on the basis of Group B. The three groups were compared before and after the intervention with respect to forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), sputum properties, sputum difficulty, sputum viscosity, average daily sputum output, Borg shortness of breath score, and 1-minute sitting and standing test. Results The improvement values of FEV1, FVC, sputum viscosity, average daily sputum discharge, Borg shortness of breath score, and 1-minute sit-to-stand test were compared among the three groups after intervention, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The improvement values of Borg shortness of breath score, and 1-minute sit-to-stand test in group B were significantly better than those in group A (all P<0.05). The improvement values of FEV1, FVC, and sputum properties in group C were significantly better than those in group A (all P<0.05), Coughing difficulty, sputum viscosity, total average daily sputum expectoration, Borg shortness of breath score, and 1-minute sit-to-stand test improvement values were significantly better than those of group A (all P<0.05). Improvement values of FEV1, average daily sputum expectoration, and Borg shortness of breath score in group C were significantly better than those of group B (all P<0.05). Conclusion For pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with moderate-to-severe inhalation injuries, prone rehabilitation exercises combined with oscillatory positive expiratory pressure training can effectively improved the patients’ exercise capacity and respiratory function, and improve their quality of life.

  • Design and application of a full-cycle rehabilitation management platform for orthopedic patients based on multi-source data

The full-cycle rehabilitation management for orthopedic patients can solve the problems of standardization, systematization, and whole process of orthopaedic rehabilitation management, and prevent short-term and long-term complications. The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has constructed a full-cycle rehabilitation management platform for orthopedic patients based on multi-source data since 2023, including six modules: multi-source data collection and integration module, intelligent individualized rehabilitation program setting module, and visual rehabilitation training module, and has explored a digitally-driven full-cycle rehabilitation management mode for orthopedic patients. This article elaborates on the platform’s functional design and implementation, full-cycle rehabilitation management mode, and application effectiveness, in order to provide a reference for promoting the integration of mobile health and orthopedic patient rehabilitation practice.
