MOOCs is a new education mode which by using the Internet to transmit the curriculums to the world to gratified the desire and the pursuit of people. In addition, it's not only an important way to accomplish convenience and mobility of study, but also a study way put emphasis on scenario and sharing. This paper will use the MOOCs and Flipped Classroom to design the teaching resources of evidence-based medicine. By combining the teaching content and characteristics of evidence-based medicine with the successful experience of the existing MOOCs, we make a teaching mode of the evidence-based medicine which is based on the students' autonomous learning and flipped classroom. And the practice of the MOOCs of evidence-based medicine will according to this mode in the future.
ObjectiveTo explore if flipped classroom in the perspective of student-based education can improve clinical communication skills of student practical nurses in clinical practice. MethodsNursing undergraduate students who practised in a top-level comprehensive hospital between July 2014 and April 2015 were included in this study as the research subjects. Eighty-five student nurses were randomly divided into observation group (n=43) and control group (n=42). Students of the observation group participated in the flipped classroom in the perspective of student-based education, while students of the control group took routine clinical practice. The clinical communication skills of the students in the two groups before and after intervention were measured by using questionnaire survey. ResultsThere were significant improvement in verification experience, effective information delivery, patient problems identifying, listening acuity, harmonious relationship building and joint participation for students in the observation group (P < 0.05). ConclusionsFlipped classroom in the perspective of student-based education can effectively improve clinical communication skills for student practical nurses. It can be used as a method of communication ability training for undergraduate nursing students in clinical practice.
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a compulsory course for clinical medicine. How to use massive open online courses (MOOC) to improve teaching of EBM and teaching effect is what we should think and explore. Based on the practical applications and features of MOOC, this paper introduces conciseness of knowledge points for MOOC of EBM, design of the videos for MOOC of EBM, the preliminary exploration of MOOC in teaching practice. It is hopefully that using application of MOOC to promote the teaching effect for EBM, and promote the educational reform.
Objective To explore the teaching ability of the neurology refresher doctors by case teaching method combined with flipped classroom teaching mode. Methods The refresher doctors who were studying in the infection group of Department of Neurology, Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University between March 2019 and September 2020 were selected. According to the time of admission, the enrolled refresher doctors were divided into control group (grade 2019) and observation group (grade 2020). The control group adopted the traditional teaching mode, and the observation group adopted the case teaching method combined with the flipped classroom teaching mode. A self-designed questionnaire was used to compare the teaching ability of the two groups of refresher doctors. Results A total of 44 refresher doctors were included. Among them, there were 24 refresher doctors in the control group and 20 refresher doctors in the observation group. The self-evaluation of the teaching ability of the two groups of refresher doctors and the evaluation of their teaching ability by the teachers showed that, except for the item “enthusiasm for teaching and willingness to spend enough time to participate in the evaluation of teaching work” of humanistic quality (P>0.05), the observation group was better than the control group in professional knowledge, teaching ability, teaching methods and humanistic quality (P<0.05). Conclusions Through the case teaching method combined with flipped classroom teaching mode, the teaching ability of refresher doctors can be cultivated, which is helpful for training more high-quality doctors for the country and promoting the sustainable and coordinated development of medical education. However, the awareness and enthusiasm of the refresher doctors to teaching work need to be improved.
Objective To explore a new teaching mode relying on the new media platform, aiming to stimulate residency standardized trainees’ interest in learning theories related to gynecology outpatient surgery, improve practical operation skills, and achieve better teaching effects. Methods The residency standardized trainees who rotate in the gynecology outpatient of West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University between July 2021 and June 2022 were selected. According to the random number table method, the trainees were divided into the control group (using the traditional teaching mode) and the intervention group (using the teaching mode of combining the flipped classroom and simulated teaching relying on the new media platform). The assessment results, teacher evaluation, trainees self-evaluation and teaching satisfaction of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results A total of 118 trainees were enrolled, 59 in each group. There was no significant difference in gender, age, years of training and education level between the two groups (P>0.05). The total scores of evaluation scores (87.59±4.54 vs. 85.17±3.70), teachers’ evaluation (87.05±3.79 vs. 85.14±3.75), and trainees’ self-evaluation (87.81±4.41 vs. 85.54±3.96) of trainees in the intervention group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The clinical thinking ability [teachers’ evaluation (24.49±1.62 vs. 23.22±2.05), trainees’ self-evaluation (25.25±1.99 vs. 23.97±2.27) and operation skills [teachers’ evaluation (37.05±1.58 vs. 36.10±1.99), trainees’ self-evaluation (36.75±2.73 vs. 35.66±2.56)] of trainees in the intervention group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The satisfaction rate of the trainees in the intervention group was 98.3%, and that of the trainees in the control group was 93.2%. The teaching satisfaction of the intervention group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The teaching mode of combining flipped classroom and simulated teaching relying on the new media platform has effectively stimulated residency standardized trainees’ learning interest in gynecological outpatient surgery, improved trainees’ clinical practice ability, improved teaching satisfaction, achieved good teaching results, and can be promoted as a new teaching mode.
